Begin Meeting -

Next week starts something new for our youth. We will be meeting in small groups during the week. We have some awesome adult leaders who are excited about the opportunity to lead a group of students toward a deeper relationship with Christ. Our middle school students will be meeting on Wed nights. 7th graders will be meeting at church from 6:00 PM – 7:00 PM. 8th grade boys will be meeting at the Storms’ house across from the church on Wed nights from 7:00 PM – 8:00 PM. 8th grade girls will meet Wed nights at the Moylans’ home. High school girls will meet on Monday nights and high school boys will meet on Tues nights. More information will be sent out in the mail later this week.

See You At The Pole is coming up on September 22nd. SYATP is an opportunity for students
to gather at the flagpole of their school and join millions of other students all across the country as they pray for their campus. We will be attending a Saw You At The Pole Rally at Mt Top Church in Cisco that night from 7:00 PM – 8:30 PM. Please join our students that day and pray for our schools.

Sunday Evening Discipleship will pick back up again this Sunday night. We will meet at 6:00 PM at the Rodgers’ house.

STRIVING FOR THE FINISH LINE

Freedom!

Freedom can be defined as having liberty or independence. When we think of freedom, as far as from the biblical standpoint, Galatians 5:1 gives us a clear picture. “Stand fast therefore in the liberty by which Christ has made us free, and do not be entangled again with a yoke of bondage.” Paul speaks again of our freedom in Romans 8. Let’s take a look:

1. Reality of our freedom. Rm.8:1a, “There is therefore now no condemnation to those who are in Christ Jesus.....” God’s provision for salvation came, not through Christ’s teaching, or through His perfect life, but through his perfect sacrifice.

2. Reason for freedom. Rm.8:2, “For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus has made me free from the law of sin and death.” The reason the believer is free from the penalty, is the Spirit has replaced the law, that produced only sin and death, with a new, simple law that produces life: law of faith.

3. Route to freedom. Rm.8:3 “For what the law could not do in that it was weak through the flesh, God did by sending His own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh, on account of sin: He condemned sin in the flesh.” What the law could not do, God Himself did. The law can condemn the sinner, but only God can condemn and destroy sin.

Choir / Special Music

Again, the music of 5th Sunday was great and we had a wonderful time of worship. Thank you to all who shared their God-given talents with us, as you helped lead us in worship. Thank you, too, Camron Cummings, for filling in for Cyndie Sunday morning at the piano. You did a great job in a last minute situation.

The Singing Men of North Central Texas Concert/Mission trip to Ukraine is now less than 7 weeks away. Rebecca and I would like to ask once again for your prayers as we prepare and as we go to the country of Ukraine, October 17-30. I will have some Prayer Partner Commitment cards in the office beginning later this week and this coming Sunday. There will be a tear-off portion that will give you directions as to how to receive daily updates (with some pictures) during our mission trip. Rebecca and I covet your prayer support as we prepare and as we travel to share the Gospel message with the people of Ukraine.

Sunday was a great day to be in God's house. I remember one of the lead characters of one of my favorite television shows when I was growing up used to say, "I love it when a plan comes together." Well, I love it when God shows up and moves in our midst. God's presence was so evident Sunday and God blessed through the invitation as we had new members come by letter who have moved to our community and for baptism. God is so good. What a great way to end one church year and get ready for a new one. Fresh Encounter is a unique way to have your faith challenged to go deeper with Christ. find way to be a part of this church wide ministry beginning on Sunday nights starting September 19th. I am glad I am your pastor.
